Money Exchange
You can use U.S. currency and credit cards in Italy, but will need Euros, too, in order to get around public transportation and for smaller transactions. Consider the exchange rate. To find a Euro exchange rate calendar, go to www.google.com and type in "currency converter" and you will get many sites that do converting.
There are also plenty of ATM machines around. If you use their ATM machines, you will get Euros out of the machine. You should consider getting at least some Euros at the airport currency exchange.
Additional
Expenses to Consider
Additional costs will vary for each person. It all depends on what you do. You might not know that until you get there. So the following are possible additional expenses that will help you get an idea of how much to bring.
Airfare and Airport Transportation
Everyone is responsible for booking their own airfare and getting to Rome on October 17 in the morning, or early afternoon. Airfare for most people should be between $650-$950. Check out www.orbitz.com, www.kayak.com, www.travelocity.com, and other travel sites for flights and cheap fares.
We will have two (2) pick up times for our group (times to be announced) at the airport to bring the groups to the hotel. If your flight arrives after the shuttles provided, you will be responsible to get your self to the hotel. There are cabs at the airport.
Food and Drinks
Only breakfast is included in the price. You should consider around 30-50 Euro per day for other meals.
Group
Activities
We have provided an interesting itinerary
for our group. Click
here to read the detailed itinerary for each day.
Non-Group Activities
If you want to move about the area to sightsee, or go to shops or restaurants, etc., you are free to do so at your own risk. We recognize that smaller groups may form and desires to see other things not in our itinerary may arise. We encourage this but cannot be responsible for anything happening outside our set plans. Please make these arrangements outside of Ave Maria Singles and between each other in the group.
