Off The Grid trips are about
planting our single Catholics group in a place removed from their
reality, where you need a spirit adventure for this unscheduled,
spontaneous experience. You learn just as much about yourself as
you do about others.
We are Off The Grid in Jamaica
with Anthony and Bridget Buono, and Fr. Tom Morrow
for this new and unique mixture of a Catholic "Survivor",
Island getaway and retreat. Enjoy a low-key, tranquil, relaxing
and very spiritual week in a tropical paradise. What a great
way to follow Thanksgiving Day and lead into Advent.

went, join the Yahoo group below.
Daily Mass, Holy Hours, Rosaries, and
Confession will all be available. Fr. Morrow and Anthony
Buono will also have talks and discussions groups. But mostly, this
trip is about you and everyone else just getting to know each other
and spend time together. There is no set schedule. We will "play
it by ear". No set meal places or times. So you have to be
a person who can get by "on the fly". We will have a list
of possible excursions and things to do (which are TOTALLY optional),
but that can be decided when we get there. Last year we had incredible
times saying the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the ocean, and praying
the rosary as a group on the beach. What a witness it was to others
on the beach.

About Where We Are Staying
We are staying at the same place we stayed last year,
"White Sands" in Negril, which happens to be a Catholic-owned
resort, with an extremely helpful and attentive staff of smiling
faces. It's perfect for our group because it is one block away from
the local Catholic church, Mary Gate of Heaven. It had some negative
aspects to it, but they have been very open to our suggestions for
improvements, so it should be an even better experience.
It's right on the beach with the clear, blue ocean, and is surrounded
by beautiful gardens with fruit trees and tropical birds that visit
the gardens. The rooms are big enough and clean enough, but they
are not the Hilton. They are rustic but comfortable enough. We chose
this place for the price we could offer, the close location to the
church, and the attention given to us by the owners. They are wonderful
and would do anything for us. But we are not there in rainy season
this time (like we were last year
October). It was pretty incredible,
though, to be in that warm ocean during a tropical downpour.
The observation deck offers wonderful sunset views. There is reggae
music at every turn. Within walking distance along the pristine
sands of Negril are many restaurants and entertainment spots.
Local Jamaicans walk the beach with their various local treats
and wares to sell. It can be annoying, but you get used to them
:)
